Construction continues!
The main picture for February 2010 depicts the Antigua & Barbuda flagged DORNUM arriving at Lighterage Quay, Truro, Cornwall, on the 27th January 2010. She was from Kinsale, in ballast, to load a cargo of scrap metal for Pasajes, northern Spain. She sailed on the morning tide of the 2nd February.

The 2388 dwt vessel was launched as "Saar Madrid"" in 1993 from RSW Rosslauer Schiffswerft GmbH & Co. KG, Rosslau-Elbe, Germany, as yard no. 245. Owners are E. Strahlmann Reederei KG m.s. "Dornum", managers Reederei E. Strahlmann, Marne, Germany.
Dimensions of the vessel are 81.80m loa, beam 11.40m, with a max draught of 4.34m. GT 16621 and NT 810. Prime mover is a KHD SBV6M628 diesel engine, with a service speed of 10.5 knots.
River to sea and sea to river transport is not new, but over the past 30 years great advances have been made in the construction of this type of vessel by marine architects in the Netherlands, Germany, Russia and the Ukraine.
